$1.1 Million Tender to Restore Barranco del Ciervo Stream in Morro Jable

The Cabildo of Fuerteventura, through the Island Water Council, has opened a tender for works to improve the Barranco del Ciervo in Morro Jable (municipality of Pájara). The contract, valued at €1.1 million, aims to enhance the hydraulic functioning of the watercourse and to improve conditions for its cleaning, maintenance, and structural stability.

The investment is necessary because the channel suffers from sediment buildup and difficult access, which hinder regular cleaning and upkeep. In an official statement, island president Lola García emphasized the broader impact:

“Not only will the stabilization of the ravine be guaranteed, but the well‑being and safety of the neighbourhood’s residents will also be ensured.”

The project is part of the Cabildo’s broader effort to improve the island’s integrated water cycle. García added:

“Keeping the ravine channels in good condition is an essential measure to ensure their proper functioning, preserve the environment, and meet the request of the Pájara City Council.”

Key officials involved

  • Adargoma Hernández – Water Council Minister
  • Lola García – Island President
  • Alexis Alonso – (role not specified)

Adargoma Hernández highlighted that improving drainage conditions for ravines and streams will facilitate maintenance work and reduce the risk of flooding during rainy periods.

Interested companies can submit bids through the State Procurement Platform until May 4, 2026.
