€192,000 to improve Tarijalejo

The Cabildo of Fuerteventura, through the Tourism Department, continues to give momentum to the Destination Tourism Sustainability Plan (PSTD) “Fuerte por Naturaleza,” with actions in every municipality aimed at transforming the island’s tourism model into one that is more attractive, intelligent and sustainable.

Today the plenary of the Cabildo approved the allocation of €225,543.56 to two new initiatives within the plan. According to the Cabildo president, Lola García,

“It is important to keep giving momentum to the different actions, in coordination with the various town halls, so that we can bring them to all municipalities.”

Tourism councilor Marlene Figueroa gave a positive assessment of the measures already carried out under the PSTD “Fuerte por Naturaleza,” and announced the expansion with significant actions that will foster a more sustainable, cohesive and competitive tourism model.

Conditioning and Beautifying Tarajalejo

  • €192,000 are earmarked for the conditioning and beautification of the coastal nucleus of Tarajalejo, a project to be funded with Cabildo’s own resources.
  • Works will focus on the municipality of Tuineje, including the repair of 5,000 m² of gullies through cleaning, clearing and fixing of potholes.
  • Restoration of the local palm grove will involve pruning and the application of phytosanitary treatments, enhancing the green spaces of the Tarajalejo coast.
  • The project also covers the rehabilitation of a sports track at the Municipal Stadium Complex of Tarajalejo, with new paving, enclosure, lighting and sports equipment installation.

Waste‑water Treatment for Mirador de Morro Velosa

  • A further €33,543.56 will fund the installation of a wastewater treatment plant to ensure the proper operation of the Mirador de Morro Velosa building, currently being renovated for future public use.
  • This initiative results from the coordinated effort of the Tourism and Museums departments of Fuerteventura.
