€19,800 in Funding for Adapted Taxis on the Island
Mobility and Accessibility Departments Release Payments to Nine Taxi Professionals
The Cabildo of Fuerteventura has approved the disbursement of subsidies aimed at improving the fleet of vehicles adapted for people with reduced mobility (PMR). A total amount of €19,800 has been allocated, marking a milestone in the management of these aids, which for the first time since 2018 are being implemented under the renewed drive of the Mobility and Accessibility departments.
“We are pleased to see this procedure concluded successfully, reinforcing our commitment to a more inclusive and barrier‑free public transport system on the island,” said Lola García, President of the Cabildo.
The resolution recognizes the obligation and orders the payment of the subsidies, whose goal is to foster a more inclusive and accessible public transport network in Fuerteventura. This measure reaffirms the Cabildo’s dedication to modernising the taxi sector and eliminating transport barriers.
In 2024 the aid programme had been called, but it was later cancelled because applicants failed to provide the required documentation on time. The 2025 call extended the execution deadline, giving potential beneficiaries greater flexibility to carry out their projects.
The approved budget has been distributed among nine taxi professionals on the island, after verification of the supporting documents. The subsidies are specifically earmarked for the “Acquisition” category of adapted vehicles.
The current resolution confirms that the taxi drivers have met all requirements, allowing the island’s public transport service standards to be raised and guaranteeing the right to mobility for all citizens.
