2 million for social projects in Fuerteventura
This funding provides stability to the projects carried out by associations until December 31, 2027.
The Cabildo of Fuerteventura is injecting two million euros to strengthen the island’s social fabric, aiming to sustain the territorial commitment to support the most vulnerable groups. The island’s president, Lola García, and the Councillor for Social Action, Víctor Alonso, conveyed this to third‑sector associations during a meeting that also included the Councillor for Treasury, Nuria Cabrera.
“It is important to support the services that social‑fabric associations provide to the most vulnerable people in every municipality of Fuerteventura,” said President Lola García. “These associations, together with families, carry out an essential daily effort to guarantee rights, accompany life processes, and build a more inclusive society.”
“The Cabildo reaffirms its commitment to the work that associations develop across the entire island. It is a great effort to improve people’s well‑being and often reaches services and needs that public administration finds difficult to address,” added Councillor Víctor Alonso.
The 2026‑2027 financing plan, amounting to two million euros, will enable collectives to implement projects through December 31, 2027, providing them with stability and reaching nearly 60,000 beneficiaries across the island.
According to Víctor Alonso, the funding will also have a direct impact on the hiring of specialized staff: up to 106 positions will be created by 30 associations operating in areas such as health and illness, physical and mental disability, social exclusion and poverty, elderly care and foster care, women’s issues, volunteering, migration and interculturality, as well as childhood and family support.
