20 yachts leave Fuerteventura for transatlantic rally to Guadeloupe
The Rallye des Îles du Soleil fleet left Morro Jable on 30 October, with a planned stop in Cape Verde before crossing the Atlantic to Marie-Galante.
Twenty sailing boats left Marina Jandía in Morro Jable at 10:00 on 30 October 2026 for the eighth Rallye des Îles du Soleil. The rally takes crews across the Atlantic to Guadeloupe in two stages.
The fleet set off from Fuerteventura for Mindelo, on the Cape Verde island of São Vicente. The first leg covers about 900 nautical miles. Crews will stop there for a planned rest before the longer Atlantic crossing.
Next departure planned for 11 November
The boats are due to leave Mindelo on 11 November for Marie-Galante, in Guadeloupe. This second leg covers about 2,130 nautical miles. The fleet is expected to arrive at the end of November. The full route is more than 3,000 nautical miles.
Grand Pavois Organisation runs the rally. It is open to both monohull and multihull sailing boats. The boats sail together, with support throughout the voyage. This includes satellite tracking of the fleet, daily weather updates, safety checks and help during each stage.
Second consecutive start from Marina Jandía
Marina Jandía, managed by Calero Marinas, hosted the start for the second year running. Crews spent the week before departure preparing their boats in Morro Jable. They also carried out final technical and safety checks.
Anaïs Lheureux, chief executive of Grand Pavois Organisation, attended the departure. The event brought boats from different countries to the marina in the south of Fuerteventura. From there, they began their onward journey across the Atlantic.
