The Council of Ministers has authorized the Ministry of the Interior to invest €10.5 million in the Canary Islands to implement a second phase of the State Security Infrastructure Plan (PLISE), launched in 2019. The Interior Ministry has approved the construction of the new National Police station in Puerto del Rosario for €7.5 million.
Specifically, for the archipelago this will mean the construction of a new local National Police station in Puerto del Rosario, on Fuerteventura, with a budget of €7.5 million, as well as the new headquarters of Reserve and Security Group No. 8 (GRS‑8) of the Civil Guard in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, budgeted at €3 million.
The donated plot, identified as AD‑052, covers 2,956 m² and is located in an urban area next to the island sports centre Francisco Melián, suitable for the development of this infrastructure, according to the technical documentation submitted to the National Police and the Ministry of the Interior.
These actions are part of the second phase of PLISE, which foresees a total nationwide investment of €900 million—the largest investment in the renovation, rehabilitation or construction of police‑use buildings in the democratic era—and will remain in execution until 2034.
The €900 million investment represents a 50 % increase over that carried out in the first PLISE (2019‑2025), which was initially equipped with €600 million. Of the total, €800 million will fund projects for the renovation or new construction of buildings attached to the Secretariat of State for Security, the National Police and the Civil Guard. The remaining €100 million will fund several actions planned for the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla.
