75 School Supply Kits Secured from Socialist Youths and FIMAPA
The collected school supplies will enable dozens of children from around fifty vulnerable families to start the new school year on equal footing with their peers, thanks to this initiative by the Socialist Youth of Fuerteventura in partnership with the Island Federation of Mothers, Fathers and Students (FIMAPA).
Successful Solidarity Campaign
The Socialist Youth of Fuerteventura, together with FIMAPA, has wrapped up a highly successful solidarity campaign aimed at gathering and distributing school supplies to families facing vulnerability on the island.
Generous Community Contributions
Thanks to the generosity of local residents, stationery shops, and small businesses, more than a hundred notebooks, pens, pencils, sharpeners, erasers, rulers, colored paints, as well as backpacks, pencil cases, and other essential items for school activities were collected.
Organization and Distribution
All the items were carefully packed into 75 separate lots. These lots are now being distributed through various AMPAs, prioritizing families that receive a zero‑rate school meal fee, i.e., those in the highest social and economic vulnerability bracket.
“The distribution follows strict confidentiality and data‑protection standards to safeguard the families receiving the aid,” the campaign organizers noted.
Involvement of Local Schools
The AMPAs are delivering the lots to the management teams of each school, ensuring that the supplies reach the intended students while respecting privacy.
Broad Participation
The campaign involves 11 AMPAs, highlighting that the need spans a significant number of schools—many of which lack formally established parent‑teacher associations, according to a statement from the Socialist Party.
“Hundreds of families on the island need the combined support of public institutions and civil society to guarantee that their children access education on equal terms and with the necessary tools for full development,” said the young socialists.
Commitment to Education
Through this effort, the Socialist Youth of Fuerteventura and FIMAPA reaffirm their strong commitment to defending education as a fundamental right and promoting equal opportunities. They also extend heartfelt thanks to all individuals and organizations whose solidarity made it possible for many island children to begin the school year with optimism.
