9,300 Youth from Across the Canary Islands to Visit University of La Laguna Next Week

The open‑day events aim to provide comprehensive information to students about to make the leap to higher education.

The University of La Laguna will host its Open Days next week, presenting its academic offerings over three days to secondary‑school students, vocational‑training pupils and anyone planning to begin university studies in the upcoming academic year.

In total, 9,325 students from 151 schools across the Canary Islands, accompanied by 382 teachers, have registered to visit the Guajara Campus in three separate sessions:

  • Wednesday: 3,664 students from La Laguna and northern Tenerife
  • Thursday, January 22: 3,435 students from Santa Cruz
  • Friday, January 23: 2,226 students from the remaining islands

The events are organized by the Vice‑Rectory for Students and carried out through the Information and Guidance Service. Their purpose is to give prospective students all the information they need so that their decisions are based on reliable data.

“The goal is to ensure that every choice is grounded in trustworthy information,” the university said in its press release.

During the visits, participants will:

  • Explore in detail the characteristics of various undergraduate degrees
  • Access audiovisual material created for the occasion, which includes a comprehensive guide for families, information on tuition costs, scholarships, and recommendations for new students

Structure

The informative forum for future students will be held in the César Manrique General Lecture Hall. Each day will feature presentations of all degree programmes that the University of La Laguna will offer in the 2026‑27 academic year, delivered by faculty members.

  • Presentation slots: 9:30 am, 10:45 am, and 12:00 pm, allowing each visitor to attend up to three talks.
  • Technical staff meeting: Daily at 11:00 am, a session with secondary‑school technical personnel.
  • Parent‑focused session: Thursday, January 22 at 6:30 pm, the Vice‑Rectory’s Student Information Office (SIO) will hold a talk for parents, addressing admission procedures, housing, scholarships, and other support options.

Additionally, three tours of one of the campus’s residence halls will be offered:

  • January 22: 1:30 pm
  • January 23: 1:30 pm and 3:00 pm

These open‑day activities are designed to help prospective students and their families make well‑informed decisions about higher‑education pathways.
