A massive dust plume will engulf

The Saharan ridge is taking hold of the islands, bringing haze and temperatures above 30 °C this Sunday.

The influence of the Saharan ridge is arriving in the archipelago with light easterly winds and rising temperatures. In a few hours a dense dust haze will accompany us, produced by a large plume of sand forming over the Sahara.

All signs point to the plume reaching the islands on Thursday afternoon, although the murky atmosphere is already noticeable in Fuerteventura. The dust haze is expected to linger at least until Monday, the 20th.

Temperatures will begin to climb sharply from Thursday onward, reaching their peak on Sunday, which will be the hottest day of the week. People with respiratory problems, infants, and the elderly are advised to take great precautions.

Regarding the sea, wind strength will decrease considerably as the weekend approaches.
