Adisfuer bolsters Cabildo sports facilities with a socially‑focused service
The Cabildo of Fuerteventura continues to promote social and labour inclusion through sport by signing a contract with the Association of Disabled People of Fuerteventura (Adisfuer). The agreement will guarantee the proper functioning of the island’s sports facilities.
The deal, driven by the Sports Department in coordination with the Procurement area, provides support services in these venues, enabling year‑round sporting activities while fostering the integration of people from vulnerable groups.
The signing ceremony, held on Wednesday, March 25, was attended by Cabildo President Lola García, Sports and Procurement Councillor Luis González, Adisfuer President María de los Santos Rodríguez, and the association’s manager Mónica Montesdeoca.
The contract, part of the island’s eSPORTura 25‑35 sports strategy, has an initial duration of two years with the possibility of extension and an estimated value of around €400,000. It was tendered on a reserved basis for entities of social interest.
“It is a social‑characterised contract that ensures the operation of the sports facilities and, at the same time, creates real labour‑integration opportunities for people with disabilities,” said Cabildo President Lola García.
The agreement secures employment for 12 people linked to Adisfuer, contributing to the job stability of these workers and, by extension, their families.
Councillor Luis González added that the service “improves the functioning of the sports facilities and materialises sport’s role as a unifying element also in the social sphere,” highlighting the commitment to fair public procurement.
From Adisfuer’s perspective, manager Mónica Montesdeoca praised the continuity of the service, which “provides job stability for twelve people and advances effective social inclusion.”
Workers’ duties include opening and closing the facilities, monitoring space usage, and detecting incidents, thereby maintaining the centres in good condition.
Through initiatives like this, the Cabildo of Fuerteventura reinforces its commitment to a management model that combines the promotion of sport with social inclusion and equal opportunities.
