Agrofuer Brings the Best of Island Culture to Tuineje

Mas Ruines que Caín and Sweet Girls will enliven the fair program

Tuineje will be the epicenter of culture, the primary sector, and the gastronomy linked to local products this weekend. In addition to meeting producers and chefs from across the island, theatrical performances will be staged by two cultural groups from the neighboring island of La Madera.

In this context, the sociocultural association Mas Ruines que Caín will organize an animated route around the Fair and the Church of San Miguel called “Uses and Customs of Sowing in Fuerteventura.” The association will transport the audience to a vivid representation of our cultural heritage.

Mas Ruines que Caín is a cultural reference in Fuerteventura. Through their dedication they have rescued for collective memory important acts such as the staging of the play Good and Evil in Tuineje. The group was awarded the Gold Medal of the Canary Islands in 2025 and is a source of pride for island culture.

Also taking part in the event’s entertainment is the well‑known Tuineje dance group Sweet Girls, a committed and talented team of young performers who have been an essential part of the municipality’s celebrations for years. They had the honor of being the heralds of the San Miguel festivities in 2024.

A program full of activities

Beyond the high‑profile cultural contributions of these two groups, the Fair will host a variety of children’s workshops related to island culture, several show‑cooking sessions showcasing the quality of local products, additional workshops, and musical performances.

Handicrafts will enjoy a prominent place within the Fair as a living expression of traditional culture, featuring the best artisans of the sector across different areas of the event during the two days of Agrofuer.

The program will also be enriched by two traditional craft workshops led by artisans from La Madera.

During Friday and Saturday, the surroundings of the Church of San Miguel will reflect the island’s recent and enduring identity, while keeping an eye on the hopeful future that the rural world can offer both residents and visitors of Fuerteventura.
