Alisio will keep bringing wind and cool temperatures to Fuerteventura all week
The month of March remains dominated by the trade winds in the Canary Islands, with moderate to strong gusts and restrained temperatures in Fuerteventura
The weather in Fuerteventura will continue to be marked by wind and relatively cool conditions over the coming days, in a March start dominated by the trade wind regime, according to weather forecasts.
During this week, northeast winds are expected to keep blowing with moderate intensity and even strong at times, especially in open areas and on the island’s eastern slope. This situation is typical of winter and early spring in the Canaries, when the Azores anticyclone favors the persistence of the trade wind.
Forecasts point to gusts that could briefly exceed 40 or 50 kilometres per hour, accompanied by temperatures that, while not especially low, will remain cooler than usual for those already expecting a more spring‑like atmosphere.
A March that could remain windy
Weather models indicate that the dynamics of the trade winds could persist for much of the month, resulting in days with constant wind, cloudiness over the northern islands and relatively mild temperatures.
In Fuerteventura, the wind will be especially noticeable in coastal zones, open spaces and tourist areas on the east of the island, where the trade wind tends to be channelled with greater intensity.
This weather pattern, although it can be uncomfortable at times, is part of the archipelago’s typical climate and also has positive effects, such as air renewal, maintenance of moderate temperatures and good conditions for wind‑related sports and the sea.
For now, everything points to March remaining under the influence of the trade wind, with windy days, cool atmosphere and atmospheric stability across much of the archipelago.
