Alisio winds ease as temperatures rise ahead of the weekend
Temperatures will climb above 30 °C in many parts of the island
A summer‑like weekend is expected as the alisio winds that have been blowing in recent days weaken from Saturday onward. Temperatures will rise, promising a very sunny and beach‑friendly weekend across the island.
- Saturday: The wind will continue from the north but with much lower intensity than in recent days.
- Sunday: The wind will shift to the east, under stronger influence from the Saharan ridge, bringing higher temperatures—though not reaching the extreme highs of August.
- From Monday: A dust‑laden “calima” is forecast to arrive.
The sea state will calm down, but caution is still advised for the western and northern coasts of the island.
Pino Tides
On Monday, 8 September—the day of the Virgin of the Pino, patron saint of Gran Canaria—one of the highest tides of the year is expected, with a coefficient of 107. Throughout the weekend the tide will have a wide range, affecting coastal areas.
