ALSA strike called off after staff and management reach agreement

The legal representation of the workers and the company’s management reached an agreement following a meeting on Wednesday, resulting in the cancellation of the planned strike.

According to the statement issued by the workers’ side, the deal includes the creation of a Specific Commission composed of representatives from both the employees and the company. This body will be tasked with analyzing possible discrimination cases, reviewing the condition of the fleet, and addressing other related issues.

The Contract Manager has pledged to maintain direct communication with the labor representation in order to provide a swift response to any problems that may arise.

“The agreement is minimal, but it gives us a window of confidence to see the promised improvements implemented,” the workers’ representatives said.

However, the agreement does not cover all employee groups. Drivers of VTC services, cleaning staff, administrative personnel, and workshop workers were excluded. The workers’ representation expressed disagreement with this exclusion, noting that the company’s stance during negotiations limited their negotiating space. They indicated that specific collective and individual agreements are expected to be pursued for these groups.

Regarding the fleet, employees acknowledge that when the ALSA Group acquired Grupo 1844, initial upgrades were made to the vehicles. They argue that this effort has diminished over time and expect the necessary investment to be resumed and sustained until the vehicles reach an optimal state.

Although they describe the pact as “minimal,” labor representatives have decided to call off the strike and grant a period of trust for the agreed‑upon improvements to be carried out. They also warned that they reserve the right to resume mobilizations if satisfactory progress is not achieved.
