AMF Nears Deal with Primero Canarias
The party led by Teodoro Sosa is reportedly negotiating with the party of island councilors Sergio Lloret and Águeda Montelongo.
Movements toward electoral coalitions for the upcoming autonomous elections are already unfolding across the archipelago, and the island of Fuerteventura is no exception. In this context, the entry of Primero Canarias onto the political scene—following the implosion of Nueva Canarias—has sparked rapprochements among other nationalist‑oriented forces on the island.
According to the digital newspaper La Raíz, Municipal Assemblies of Fuerteventura (AMF) is in talks with Primero Canarias about forming a joint list. It is worth noting that AMF currently holds two seats on the Island Council, occupied by Águeda Montelongo and former council president Sergio Lloret.
Sources close to the Majorcan nationalist faction say that the negotiations are being handled by Pedro Armas, AMF’s president, who is in discussions with both Primero Canarias and Nueva Canarias. However, the sources stress that “there is no evidence of any agreement in either direction.”
