Ana Belén Alcalde joins the Achipencos from Aranjuez
The Puerto del Rosario City Council presented this award at FITUR, a tradition that highlights one of the major events of the capital’s carnival and of all Fuerteventura. The guest is Ana Belén Alcalde, a tourist guide and vocational‑training teacher, who will enjoy the carnival regatta with all expenses paid.
The council announced Ana Belén Alcalde as the winner of the special prize to attend the 2026 Achipencos Regatta, one of the flagship events of the Puerto del Rosario Carnival and of the entire island.
Ana Belén works as a tourist guide and as a vocational‑training teacher at IES Alpajés in Aranjuez. She has been invited by the municipal government to experience this unique celebration firsthand.
She received the prize on Friday at FITUR. The award includes:
- Round‑trip airfare for two from Madrid to Fuerteventura
- Accommodation at Hotel El Mirador
- Complimentary rental car provided by Cicar
- Two meals (lunches or dinners) at partner restaurants Brisas do Mar and El Muelle Viejo
Each year, the Puerto del Rosario City Council presents this award at Spain’s major tourism fair to promote the capital to the national tourism market.
Enjoying the Achipencos as Guests
Ana Belén Alcalde will therefore take part in the upcoming Achipencos Regatta of the Puerto del Rosario Carnival, an event that has become a unique spectacle in the Canary archipelago.
Participants build floating devices from recycled materials and propel them manually across the capital’s bay. Recent editions have attracted thousands of spectators and dozens of competitors, making the regatta one of the most anticipated carnival activities and a showcase of creativity and family fun on the island.
