Another 58 Migrants Rescued from Inflatable Boat 7 Miles Off Fuerteventura

Maritime rescue services saved a total of 58 migrants, including 14 women and one minor, from a rubber boat spotted about 7 miles off Morro Jable, on the southern coast of Fuerteventura.

  • Alert: The incident was reported to the Salvamento coordination centre in Las Palmas.
  • Air support: A Sasemar 103 aircraft was dispatched to locate the vessel.
  • Rescue operation: Once the boat was found, the crew of the patrol vessel Salvamar Izar reached it at 13:38 h and transferred the migrants aboard.
  • Arrival: Salvamar Izar docked at the port of Gran Tarajal around 15:00 h on the same day.

The early data provided by Salvamento confirmed the presence of the 58 individuals on board, highlighting the ongoing challenges of irregular migration in the waters surrounding the Canary Islands.
