Antigua cemetery prepared for remembrance visits on 1 November
Antigua Council reported cleaning, pruning and work to improve access at the cemetery ahead of family remembrance visits on 1 November 2026.
Antigua Council reported work at the municipal cemetery ahead of remembrance visits on Sunday 1 November 2026. Workers had cleaned the grounds, pruned plants and improved access.
Onda Fuerteventura published the report on 30 October. The council expected many residents to visit over the weekend to remember relatives who had died. The report outlined the preparations. It did not confirm how many people attended or whether all planned work was complete.
Mayor Juan Cabrera said council workers had been cleaning and disinfecting the grounds. They had also been repainting walls and improving access. He said staff had spent several days preparing the cemetery for families.
Parks and Gardens councillor David Alberto Guerra said workers had pruned plants and cleaned the surrounding area. Inside the cemetery, they had tended shrubs and cypress trees. He also announced plans to add more plants as the cemetery grows.
The council said it would provide flowers, as it does each year. It also planned to install sound equipment for a religious service inside the cemetery.
