Antigua Holds Brotherhood Procession This Sunday for Patron Saint Festivities

More than 600 residents gathered for the Brotherhood Meal inside the festival tent dedicated to Our Lady of La Antigua.

The menu featured paella, goat meat, potatoes with mojo sauce, and croquettes—served free of charge, allowing neighbors to enjoy the company of one another. As Councilor for Festivities Pedro Armas explained:

“The dishes are for everyone, and there is no entry fee for the Brotherhood Meal; the real value is sharing the moment with your fellow citizens.”

Mayor Matías Peña García welcomed the attendees, thanking the Department of Festivities for its coordination and urging applause for everyone involved in organizing this important event that showcases the town’s unity. He also reiterated his gratitude to the Antigua Festival Commission for its essential role in the patron saint celebrations.

The Brotherhood Meal was accompanied by live music. Young local talent Juan José opened the program, followed by performances from the Melodi Orchestra and the Mejor con Copas band.

The festivities continue on Monday, September 1, with the traditional ringing of the bells and a morning greeting. Children’s activities, games in the main square, and events at the senior center are scheduled, highlighted by the Scala Hifi Infantil program on the first day of the week and month.
