Antigua’s Candil de Cuentos closes sixth edition with poetry and storytelling

The adult storytelling programme ended at Antigua’s Biblioteca del Portón on 30 October, with creative writing participants and author Figu García taking part.

Antigua’s sixth Candil de Cuentos programme closed on 30 October with an evening of poetry and storytelling at the Biblioteca del Portón. Members of a creative writing workshop read their own stories before author Figu García brought the programme to a close with Poesía entre candiles.

The library courtyard was full for the final event, where those attending enjoyed hot chocolate and handmade cakes. Participants in the ‘Fuerteventura entre renglones’ workshop read stories inspired by a photograph, said Antigua’s culture councillor, Agustín Rodríguez.

Rodríguez said five writers had presented spoken-word and musical performances during the programme. Mayor Juan Cabrera thanked the organisers and praised the work of narrator GemmaG, who directed the adult storytelling programme. Cabrera said there had been five sessions and expressed hope for its future.
