Antigua's Festival Kicks Off This Thursday

Opening ceremony

“We begin the festivities in the best possible way,” said Mayor Matías Peña García, noting that the opening address will be delivered by Doña Pepa Hernández Jordán at 20:30, accompanied by timple music, Canary rhythms, the Campillo parade, and toasts for all attendees.

Celebration overview

“These celebrations in honor of Our Lady of La Antigua are the result of a program organized with effort and great affection by the Festival Committee and the Council of Festivities,” the mayor added, describing the event as a unifying patronal feast that invites dancing, music, games, children’s parties, and concerts.

“The festivities are for everyone,” said Councilor of Festivities Pedro M. Armas Martín, emphasizing comfort and safety measures. He highlighted that Antigua’s main square will become an attraction zone for the youngest, a children’s‑party area, a stage reserved for an 80 s party, and a large concert venue at the municipal fairgrounds, featuring events such as the Brotherhood Meal, a Soloists Meeting, and a concert by David Bustamante.

  • Music: Traditional timple, Canary rhythms, and performances by local bands.
  • Parade: The Campillo procession.
  • Family activities: Children’s entertainment zones and an 80 s‑themed party.
