Army Pays Tribute to Soldiers Killed in 1994 Fuerteventura Crash

It involved seven young people who died in a helicopter accident during Exercise Cuchillo 94

On Friday, November 14 2025, at Barranco de la Herradura, and on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of the helicopter crash that occurred during Exercise “Cuchillo 94”, a tribute ceremony was held for the fallen. The event featured participation from the Infantry Regiment “Soria” No. 9, belonging to the Canary Islands Brigade XVI, the BHELMA VI, and the 3rd Legion’s D. Juan de Austria Battalion.

The ceremony, presided over by Lieutenant General Julio Salom Herrera, Commander of the Canary Islands Land Forces, included an Honor Guard from the Protected Infantry Battalion “Fuerteventura” I/9 (BIPROT I/9) of the “Soria” Regiment No. 9, the War Band No. 3 of the Canary Islands Brigade XVI, the Regimental Color Guard, the Battalion’s Drumline, and the company flags.
