Arrested for beating partner in downtown Puerto del Rosario

Police found the woman lying, semi‑conscious and with bruises. The Local Police of Puerto del Rosario, in the early hours of Thursday, detained and placed before a judge a 45‑year‑old man as the alleged perpetrator of a gender‑based violence offence. Officers were alerted at around 03:20 a.m., when the suspect was assaulting his partner on a central street of Puerto del Rosario.

The victim, who was found on the ground semi‑conscious and with contusions, received medical assistance on site and was taken by ambulance to the General Hospital of Fuerteventura, where she was admitted for treatment.

The alleged attacker was arrested on the spot and presented to the National Police’s guard station for subsequent judicial processing.

Through the Integrated Monitoring System for Gender‑Based Violence Cases, the Local Police of Puerto del Rosario is currently monitoring 41 active cases, in coordination with the Family Unit (UFAM) of the National Police, under the agreement signed in March 2021 between the Puerto del Rosario City Council and the State Secretariat for Security.
