Arrested for injuring a local police officer in Puerto del Rosario

The incident occurred during a routine inspection of a sealed workshop in the El Charco neighbourhood.

On the afternoon of Wednesday, February 18, officers of the Puerto del Rosario Local Police detained V.M.R., a 52‑year‑old Dominican national.

The events took place at 5:40 p.m. while checking compliance with a precautionary seal imposed on a workshop activity. During the inspection it was discovered that, despite the seal order, the activity had resumed and two people were working inside the premises.

When the officers attempted to identify the responsible party, he reacted violently, trying to assault them. He had to be subdued and arrested, resisting and injuring one officer by biting the officer’s arm during the intervention.

The detainee has been placed under judicial custody for these actions. The officers also re‑installed the broken seal and initiated the corresponding legal procedures for its breach.

In addition, authorities found that the second worker, a Colombian national, was irregularly residing in Spain and lacked a work contract. He was handed over to the National Police’s Immigration and Borders Brigade for the processing of an administrative expulsion file.
