Bernhard Glauser champions artisanal quality upon receiving the Island Award

The master jeweler Bernhard Glauser was honored this Sunday with the 2026 Island Craftsmanship Award during the Fuerteventura Island Craft Fair held in Antigua.

Glauser dedicated the recognition to his parents, his partner, and to those who truly appreciate handmade products.

“I dedicate this award to my parents, my partner, and to people with good taste, willing to pay for a well‑made, handcrafted product—people who love and buy craftsmanship,” he said as he accepted the prize.

The award was presented by the mayor of Antigua, Matías Peña, together with Margarita De Vera, representative of the Fundación Colectivo Mafasca.

In his speech, the jeweler emphasized the pivotal role of artisans and underscored the necessity of preserving high quality at the Craft Fair as a guarantee for the sector’s future. He argued that maintaining standards adds value to the craft, making it attractive for learning and practicing the trade.

Following his remarks, Glauser also praised the work of the Association of Artisans. Members of the association presented him with a bouquet of flowers, celebrating a special moment for Glauser, for craftsmanship, and for the Island Craft Fair.
