Blas Acosta Calls for Cabildo Stability and Praises Matías Peña’s “Good Governance”

The Secretary‑General of the Socialist Party (PSOE) in Fuerteventura, Blas Acosta, is urging “stability and continuity” of the current governing pact in the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, stressing that decisions taken by a single faction should not jeopardize the institution.

In this context, the PSOE is analysing its “will to support” the continuity and stability of the governing pact after its coalition partner decided to dismiss the former Councillor for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Matías Peña.

Acosta praises the “good management” carried out by Peña in the island’s primary sector and trusts that the changes driven by one part of the pact will not alter the line of work developed so far by the now‑former councillor.

“Aside from other considerations and political leadership, the Cabildo must value and keep active the actions that have proven beneficial for food production in Fuerteventura and for generating local economies,” Acosta added, “small‑scale economies that, nevertheless, sustain many families and preserve the customs and uses intrinsic to our identity.”

In short, the PSOE of Fuerteventura advocates reinforcing the government’s stability to ensure the pact’s continuity and the policies that have proven advantageous for citizens. At the same time, it expects that this unilateral decision will not endanger the Cabildo’s stability nor undermine the good work already accomplished.
