Participating Groups

The Gran Baile de Taifas will feature musical ensembles from Fuerteventura and the other Canary Islands, as well as students from the Escuela Insular de Música (Valles de Ortega and La Oliva campuses).

  • Tababaire (Fuerteventura) – Over 20 years of experience, originating in La Oliva. Their repertoire includes traditional and popular Canarian music, as well as author‑written and Latin popular genres.
  • Parranda El Callao (Fuerteventura) – Formed in 2013 by three musicians to spread the joy of popular music. The group now has five members and performs more than 25 well‑known songs plus original compositions.
  • Parranda El Golpito (Lanzarote) – Founded in 2004 by a group of young folklore enthusiasts. They have shared stages with prominent island ensembles and have performed throughout the Canary Islands, mainland Spain, and Portugal.
  • Parranda Los Muchachos (Tenerife) – Established in 2016 with members drawn from various folk and popular music groups. Their set includes pieces once danced at traditional “candil” gatherings, such as pasodobles, isas, and polkas.
  • Parranda El Alpiste (Gran Canaria) – Offers a varied repertoire of Canarian and Latin‑American popular music, delivering energetic and rhythmic performances that guarantee a festive atmosphere.

These groups, together with the student musicians, will provide a vibrant celebration of Canary Island folk traditions at the Gran Baile de Taifas.
