Boosting Fuerteventura's Productive Fabric with Technology

The Technological Breakfasts organized by the Cabildo of Fuerteventura offered solutions to freelancers and small‑medium enterprises (SMEs) in response to the new 2026 regulations affecting the business environment, especially regarding electronic invoicing (Verafactu) and work‑time registration/control, among other aspects.

“This breakfast was created precisely to explain what is changing, how it affects businesses, and, above all, what technological solutions already exist to comply with the regulations efficiently and without adding extra burden,” said Carmen Alonso, Councillor for New Technologies.
“Digital transformation is not just a matter of modernization; it is also a tool to simplify processes, save time, and improve business management. We want technology to be an ally, not an obstacle.”

Javier Franco, Director of the Canary Islands Agency for Research, Innovation and the Information Society (ACIISI), highlighted:

“These sessions are a window to showcase the value of knowledge technology to our SMEs and micro‑SMEs, which represent 84 % of the Canary business fabric.”

The Association of Freelancers of the Canary Islands, represented by its manager Elliot Martín, clarified the real‑world implications of the new obligations for freelancers and SMEs, answered practical questions, and demonstrated digital tools designed to meet the regulatory requirements.
