Bus Transport Strike Postponed

The strike committee has decided to postpone the regular passenger‑transport strike in the province of Las Palmas after more than 12 days of mobilization, citing a noticeable convergence of employers’ position. Unions view this step as a starting point toward achieving the first provincial collective agreement for the sector.

Negotiations Advance

The Federation of Services to Citizens of CCOO Canary Islands (FSC‑CCOO) praised the effort of the workers and the numerous displays of solidarity received during the conflict. The decision to postpone—not cancel—the strike reflects the opening of a new dialogue scenario.

Key Commitments Presented in the Urgent Meeting

  • Minimum salary table: Establishes a reference remuneration framework for the entire province, preventing the application of lower agreements such as those governing discretionary transport.
  • Mandatory subrogation: Guarantees that all employees retain their labor rights if an operator change occurs, preserving the most advantageous conditions currently in place at each company.

Union Statement

“This is only a postponement, not a cancellation. We continue the fight to guarantee our future,” the union affirmed, emphasizing its unwavering commitment to defend labor rights and its vigilance until the agreement is fully realized.

These advances come after the island councils requested an end to the mobilizations due to their direct impact on the population. FSC‑CCOO reiterated its gratitude to the workers and its resolve to keep monitoring the negotiations.
