CAAF upgrades 370 m of distribution network on Pelayo Street

The CAAF’s chief executive, Adargoma Hernández, explained that the renewal will prevent recurring incidents in the area.

The Consorcio de Abastecimiento de Aguas a Fuerteventura (CAAF) has begun works to replace the potable‑water distribution network on Pelayo Street in the municipality of Puerto del Rosario. The project involves:

  • 370 meters of aging pipe to be removed and replaced, improving continuity and water quality for subscribers.
  • A budget of €33,669.73.
  • An estimated execution period of 20 working days from the start of the works.

The president of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, Lola García, the mayor of Puerto del Rosario, David de Vera, and CAAF’s chief executive, Adargoma Hernández, visited the site to assess progress and the expected impact on the neighbourhood.

“The renewal of this network on Pelayo Street is a necessary and urgent action to guarantee a stable and quality supply. We continue strengthening the island’s hydraulic infrastructure to meet the real needs of our municipalities,” said Lola García.

“These works improve an essential service and respond to a clear demand from residents. Collaboration between the Cabildo and CAAF allows us to act quickly where the network shows the most wear,” noted David de Vera.

“We are replacing an old conduit that caused frequent leaks and failures. With this work we ensure greater reliability in the service and reduce interruptions, fulfilling our responsibility to keep the networks in optimal condition,” affirmed Adargoma Hernández.

A Measure to Improve the Service

The Pelayo Street distribution network had suffered notable deterioration, leading to increased water losses and supply interruptions. The intervention aims to modernize the infrastructure and boost the efficiency of the water‑supply system at this key point in the municipality.

Commitment to Continuous Improvement

CAAF emphasizes that the renewal and maintenance of hydraulic networks is an ongoing priority to guarantee potable‑water supply across all municipalities of Fuerteventura. Continuously replacing obsolete sections helps improve pressure, reduce losses, and ensure a more reliable service for the population.
