Cabildo activates PEIN amid weather alerts

Cabildo services are on alert for all possible circumstances surrounding the warning.

The Cabildo of Fuerteventura has activated the Island Territorial Emergency Plan for Civil Protection of the island, starting at 15:00 today, due to meteorological alerts issued by the General Directorate of Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands, in accordance with the Canary Islands Specific Emergency Plan (PEFMA).

The activation of the PEIN means the suspension of all outdoor public events organized by the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, as well as the closure of sports facilities (whether covered or open) that depend on the island corporation. All other indoor services will continue their scheduled activities.

Fuerteventura is currently under alert for coastal phenomena and rain, and under pre‑alert for storms, flooding, and wind that may exceed gusts of 70 km/h.

The Cabildo has activated the PEIN to monitor the low‑pressure system and to be able to coordinate rapid and effective responses to any emergency that may arise on the island.
