Cabildo Approves Its First AI Initiative
Project Overview
The Cabildo of Fuerteventura, through the New Technologies department, will implement the “Fuerteventura: Artificial Intelligence for All” initiative. The program aims to boost employability, modernize public administration, and generate new economic opportunities across the island.
The project will be carried out under a partnership agreement with the Canary Islands Excellence in Technology Cluster (CET), a consortium of ICT companies dedicated to promoting and disseminating information and communication technologies. Training actions will target the business community, teachers, students, public‑sector employees, and the general public.
Funding and Strategic Plan
During the plenary session on Friday, 24 April, the island’s governing body unanimously approved the Strategic Grant Plan for Information Technology and New Technologies. This plan will formalize the agreement with CET and provide the financial framework to launch the AI project and future initiatives.
It marks the first time the Cabildo of Fuerteventura has adopted a strategic grant plan in this field, “focusing on people and opportunities to reduce the digital divide, strengthening the business and educational fabric.”
