Cabildo Celebrates €4 Million Boost from Canary Islands Government for Strategic Projects and Basic Infrastructure

The Cabildo of Fuerteventura highlighted the recent approval of more than €4 million by the Canary Islands Government Council, an investment aimed at boosting strategic island projects and strengthening basic infrastructure, especially in the road sector.

Boosting Economic Diversification and Innovation

The president of the Cabildo, Lola García, emphasized that these agreements “positively affect economic development and infrastructure in Fuerteventura,” framing them within the joint effort of both administrations to address the island’s priority needs.

“This financing represents a significant support for strategic projects, allowing us to advance modernization, innovation, and economic diversification from the Technological Park, without neglecting basic infrastructure for citizens,” García added.

The Technological Park: A Key Piece of the Island’s Future

The Technological Park of Fuerteventura continues to consolidate its role as a reference space for technological and scientific projects, attracting innovative companies and generating skilled employment. Its activity focuses especially on sectors such as:

  • Energy and sustainability
  • Digitalization
  • Territorial observation
  • Efficient resource management

These areas form part of the development model the Cabildo promotes to strengthen the island’s economy.

García thanked regional Minister of Territorial Policy, Territorial Cohesion and Water, Manuel Miranda, and the Minister of Universities, Science, Innovation and Culture, Migdalia Machín, whose support has been essential for advancing these projects.

Road Improvements: Road Safety and Maintenance

In addition to the investment earmarked for the Technological Park, the Government Council approved a budget of roughly €90,000 for road interventions on Fuerteventura aimed at:

  • Improving road safety
  • Reinforcing the condition of the island’s road network

Aligned with the Island’s Strategy

The Cabildo stresses that this economic injection aligns with the development model promoted by the institution, based on:

  • Innovation
  • Economic diversification
  • Sustainability
  • Continuous infrastructure improvement

This roadmap seeks to guarantee balanced and sustainable growth for the entire population of Fuerteventura.
