Cabildo earmarks €90,000 for inclusive programs in Fuerteventura

Accessibility Council Meets with Groups and Associations to Coordinate Inclusive Sports and Leisure Programming Throughout the Year

The Cabildo of Fuerteventura, through its Accessibility department, will earmark almost €90,000 this year to support the work of associations and collectives that develop inclusive activities for the integration and well‑being of people across the island’s six municipalities. The figure was announced by the department’s minister, Carmen Alonso, during a meeting with the groups to coordinate the 2026 activity calendar.

“The agreements we develop are not simple contracts: they represent commitment, collaboration and a genuine desire to do things right, bringing accessibility to every corner of the island. All of this for a more inclusive, more humane, and better Fuerteventura for everyone,” Alonso said during the gathering.

Alonso also emphasized the importance of coordinated work between institutions and collectives, creating synergies that can extend activities to all parts of Fuerteventura, ensuring full enjoyment, equal rights, and integration for all people. She thanked the groups for their transversal cooperation, adding that “no one on the island should be left out of this programming throughout the year.”

The associations receiving funding from the Accessibility department are Play and Train, Adivia, Fuerte Vida Parkinson No Limits, Innsurff, and Open Padel. These organizations offer accessible sports such as surfing, paddle‑boarding, trekking, and other inclusive athletic activities. Alonso highlighted the goal of also bringing these programs to the “Aulas Enclave” (special classrooms) in the island’s various educational centers.
