The Cabildo of Fuerteventura will hold the Neuromajo Gala 2026 on Friday, 24 January at 5 p.m. The ceremony, a tribute to the participants of the 2025 Neuromajo programme, will take place at the Palace of Training and Congresses. It is organised by the Ministry of Social Action in partnership with the Neuro‑Olympic Association, the six island municipalities and Padilla Supermarkets SPAR.

Objectives of the Gala

The event aims to highlight the commitment, consistency and values demonstrated by participants throughout the programme, beyond purely sporting results. The ceremony will recognise attitudes such as:

  • Team spirit and camaraderie
  • Inspiration and motivation
  • Effort and perseverance
  • Positive atmosphere and good humour
  • Personal growth and continuous improvement

These qualities are considered essential both in sport and everyday life.

About the Neuromajo Programme

Neuromajo has become an island‑wide initiative that promotes active, healthy ageing by combining physical activity, lifelong learning and social participation. Throughout 2025, the programme engaged senior citizens from every municipality of Fuerteventura, encouraging healthy habits and creating spaces for social interaction and community building.

Statements from Officials

Lola García, President of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, emphasized that the initiative “is a clear example of our commitment to inclusion and the active role of older people in the island’s social and community life.”

Víctor Alonso, Minister of Social Action, added that the Neuromajo Gala “recognises the enthusiasm, consistency and daily effort of the participants, as well as the remarkable capacity for personal improvement shown throughout the programme.”

Participation and Community Impact

The Neuromajo Gala 2026 will bring together teams from all the island’s municipalities, creating a collective celebration that showcases the importance of continuing inclusive projects that enhance the quality of life for senior residents.
