Cabildo shuts down the PEIM

Sea force eases but strong wind will continue from noon
The Cabildo of Fuerteventura has deactivated the Island Territorial Emergency Plan for Civil Protection (PEIM) as of 00:00 today, Saturday, due to the update of meteorological alerts by the General Directorate of Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands, which are now in pre‑alert status.
The deactivation of the PEIM means that outdoor activities organized by the Cabildo and the sports facilities managed by the island corporation, which had been suspended, can now resume normally.

The Cabildo’s Department of Security and Emergencies, in coordination with municipalities and other administrations, continues to monitor the situation and urges the public to maintain precautions, especially in coastal areas.

Wind picks up from midday
Do not let your guard down, especially because the wind will blow again across the entire island from midday. According to AEMET, the wind will be strongest today on the island’s western coast and in northern Fuerteventura, particularly in El Cotillo, Majanicho, and Lajares, with gusts that may exceed 60 km/h.
