Calima Returns Saturday, Intensifies Sunday
The Saharan Dorsal Will Bring High Temperatures Over the Weekend
The African Saharan dorsal is once again imposing its influence on the archipelago, bringing rising temperatures that will be even higher as the weekend progresses.
In addition, suspended dust will accompany the heat: it will arrive aloft on Saturday and become denser on Sunday when the bulk of the particles will settle to the ground. All indications suggest the phenomenon will persist until Wednesday, the 27th.
Light northerly winds will keep temperatures climbing, potentially reaching 30 °C in many parts of the island. Sea conditions are expected to produce waves of up to two metres along the north and west coasts, so great caution is advised for anyone on the shoreline.
