Canary Coalition backs David Herrera for mayor of Tuineje
After the Resignation of Candelaria Umpiérrez, the Governing Pact Remains Intact
The Majorera Assembly–Coalition Canary Fuerteventura and the Socialist Party of Fuerteventura announced that, on Wednesday, a monitoring meeting of the governing pact was held at the Tuineje Town Hall following Candelaria Umpiérrez’s resignation from the mayor’s office.
During the meeting, the executive committees of the Majorera Assembly–Coalition Canary Fuerteventura and the Socialist Party agreed to maintain the governing pact under the same terms. Their goal is to continue working together for the remaining months of the term to improve the municipality’s situation.
Both the island executive of AM‑CC and that of the PSOE Fuerteventura emphasized that the session took place in a climate of dialogue and understanding, free from tension, and focused on institutional responsibility and the need to redirect and strengthen municipal management.
As a result of the agreement, the mayoralty will be assumed by David Herrera Ginory, who will retain his current council positions. The rest of the governing group will continue to lead their respective areas. This new configuration of the Tuineje Town Hall will take effect on 10 February, during the municipal plenary session.
