Canary Coalition decries lack of state investment in the island

Nationalists denounce that island administrations cede land while the state does not expedite investments

The Majorera Assembly – Canary Coalition of Puerto del Rosario has condemned the inaction of the Island Directorate of the General State Administration on the island, openly questioning its role amid the lack of state investment in basic infrastructure.

The nationalist formation states that “it is legitimate to ask what the Island Directorate and its head are for if the only answer Fuerteventura receives is that local administrations must provide land and financing.”

They recall that the Puerto del Rosario City Council has made municipal land available for the construction of new National Police facilities, as well as for other public infrastructures, yet so far there has been no swift response or clear commitment from the State.

The Majorera Assembly – Canary Coalition warns that this situation is not isolated, but reflects a structural problem: “the State’s lack of commitment to Fuerteventura is evident when we see essential infrastructures still in precarious condition.”

Among the facilities highlighted are the tax office, Social Security offices, the National Police station, and the Civil Guard barracks, which “remain in a state of deterioration until the necessary investment for their improvement arrives.”

“Meanwhile, the Island Directorate merely shifts responsibility onto island councils and municipalities, instead of fulfilling its primary role, which is nothing other than defending the island’s interests and attracting state investment,” they emphasize.

The Canary Coalition of Puerto del Rosario insists that Fuerteventura can no longer wait and calls for decisive action from the State, with real investments and planning, to guarantee dignified public services.
