Canary Islands Explores Latest Tech Innovations in Madrid to Boost Security and Emergency Response
“The participation of the Canary Islands in forums like this is key to keeping us at the technological forefront.”
The Canary Islands government, represented by Territorial Policy Minister Manuel Miranda, attended the TECNOSEC DRONExpo fair held this week in Madrid. The event is one of the country’s main showcases for technological innovation applied to security, intelligence and emergency management.
Accompanying Miranda was Eduardo Pereira, manager of the Fuerteventura Technology Park. At the Madrid Arena they examined a series of development projects that position the fair as a benchmark for security operations and drone technology, according to the regional government.
In a press release, Miranda emphasized that the incorporation of new technologies in emergencies “allows us to keep advancing in better management of safety and citizen protection, with tools that are more effective, faster and adapted to current challenges.” Several of the participating companies are based in the Fuerteventura Technology Park.
“The Canary Islands cannot stay on the sidelines of this knowledge: we need to learn from these experiences and forge alliances with companies and entities that are working on cutting‑edge projects. … Our goal is clear: to guarantee citizens’ safety and be prepared for the challenges of today and tomorrow.”
About the Fair
The TECNOSEC DRONExpo exhibition covered more than 5,000 m² of exhibition space, gathering leading firms in the sector, institutional representatives and emergency‑response specialists, as well as the main decision‑makers from public and private organisations.
The event brought together actors from police technology, security and intelligence at the Madrid Arena, serving as a meeting point between the various Spanish administrations responsible for safety and the companies that meet their technological needs.
“The participation of the Canary Islands in forums like this is essential to stay at the technological forefront, strengthen collaboration with other territories and explore new solutions that can be applied across the archipelago to ensure a more efficient response in emergency situations,” Miranda underscored.
