Canary Islands Game Industry Showcases Its Potential at Germany's Gamescom
Gran Canaria and Tenerife travel to this specialized fair to highlight one of the promising sectors emphasized by the Canary Islands REF.
A delegation of public officials and Canary‑based video‑game companies participated this week in Europe’s largest industry exhibition, Gamescom in Cologne, Germany. Their goal was to seek international development opportunities, promote overseas growth for local firms, and demonstrate everything the Canary Islands can offer the gaming sector.
During the week, the event featured the latest industry news, emerging trends, and new releases.
The Canary delegation attended under the unified brand “Canary Islands Games,” sharing a stand with ICEX Spain.
The mission was organized with the support of Proexca’s specific units and the on‑ground assistance of the external network, notably Proexca’s German delegation, as well as the Canary Islands Special Zone (ZEC).
Thanks to the External Promotion area, the initiative was framed within the agreement signed with the Canary Regional Association of Video Games for sector promotion, allowing three Canary companies to take part.
- Drakhar Studios
- Foxter
- MoonMana Games
These studios attended the event to sell their products and services abroad, learn about emerging trends and tools, and explore synergies with other participating companies.
Additionally, Proexca’s “Invest in the Canary Islands” department promoted the archipelago as an audiovisual hub, aiming to attract investment to the islands’ video‑game sector, according to a statement from the agency.
Their efforts included B2B meetings and the promotion of the Canary Islands’ advantages: a solid ecosystem, high quality of life, strategic location, strong connectivity, training centers, and attractive tax incentives for gaming companies.
The gathering also generated proposals for joint actions with other Spanish regional governments and the German external‑network delegation, with the aim of creating synergies among companies and advancing training initiatives for the sector in the Canary Islands.
