Canary Islands Government Issues Pre‑alert for Rain in Fuerteventura and Lanzarote

The Canary Islands Government, through the Directorate General of Emergencies, has declared a pre‑alert situation for rain on Lanzarote and Fuerteventura starting at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, 13 January. The decision is based on information from the State Meteorological Agency and other sources, and is made under the Specific Emergency Plan for the Canary Islands against Adverse Meteorological Phenomena (PEFMA).

Territorial Scope

  • Islands of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura

Observations

A cold front will cross the archipelago, bringing light to moderate precipitation on the northern slopes, with potentially locally strong showers that could reach or exceed 5 mm in one hour on both islands. Storms are not ruled out in the vicinity of the two islands.
