Canary Islands Health Merit Competition List Published
The Canary Islands Health Service (SCS) announced that, with yesterday’s publication of the last pending category, the definitive results of the merit competition for the stabilization process of sub‑group A1 health personnel have now been posted on the official SCS website and communicated to the affected candidates. Sub‑group A1 includes doctors, other health professionals, as well as categories such as odontologists, pharmacists and public‑health technicians.
In addition, the SCS has uploaded the resolutions for the allocation of positions for the 49 categories/specialties within this sub‑group. This means that virtually the entire list of offered posts is now public, together with the procedure for requesting them through the merit competition.
With these publications, candidates can access the final results of the merit competition, see the scores obtained and their ranking in each list, which indicates whether they can stabilize their position by merit.
Guarantees
The SCS stresses that the published definitive resolutions guarantee the entitlement to a position, provided the candidate meets the access requirements and has not renounced any post when completing the relevant form.
Both the definitive resolutions and the position‑allocation resolutions have been released gradually as each tribunal completed the scoring for each category. Simultaneously, the SCS is working intensively to publish the final allocation resolutions as quickly as possible—this is the last step needed to appoint staff as permanent statutory employees through the merit competition, the first of three phases defined by Law 20/2021.
Application Deadline
The SCS reminds applicants that the deadline to submit the request form for a position is twenty (20) calendar days from the day after the resolution is officially notified. For the five resolutions published yesterday, candidates have from 00:00 h on 20 September until 23:59 h on 9 October 2025 (both days inclusive) to submit their documents, as specified on the SCS website.
Progress in the Process
During this week the SCS continued publishing definitive resolutions and position‑allocation resolutions, and will keep doing so in the coming weeks until all allocations for the various professional groups are completed, moving the process toward the final appointment of permanent statutory staff.
In this context, SCS Director Adasat Goya has held working meetings with the different trade‑union organizations of the sectoral table that requested them, aiming to clarify doubts about the procedure and the suitability of advancing the process, in a fully constructive and dialogic spirit.
Management and Services Staff
The competition‑opposition phase that begins on 29 September also affects, besides the A1 health group, the Management and Services staff. Of the fifteen categories that compose this group, five are already in the allocation phase and all have published definitive merit‑competition results. Nine categories are still in the competition‑opposition phase.
It should be recalled that more than 160,000 applications were submitted for the 12,463 positions announced in the call, and that the entire process is the result of the work of the health sectoral table. The goal is to continue stabilizing workers to reduce temporary employment within the SCS.
This is the largest stabilization process in the history of the Canary Islands Health Service, and advancing the procedure is essential to regularize all planned positions across more than a hundred professional categories, all of which have already been scored in provisional or definitive resolutions.
After completing this first examination phase, the next groups of professional categories will be addressed in the coming months according to the established calendar, since the question‑and‑answer repertoires have been available on the SCS website for over a year, providing ample time for candidates to prepare the exam material.
