Canary Islands police arrest man in Morro Jable with 90 crack doses and 34 cocaine wraps

The intervention of the Canine Guides Group enabled officers to locate a hidden compartment inside the vehicle.

Agents from the Unidad de Prevención, Reacción e Intervención (UPRI) of the General Corps of the Canary Police arrested a man on Thursday night in Morro Jable, Fuerteventura, on suspicion of committing a crime against public health.

During the operation, officers seized:

  • 90 doses of crack
  • 34 thermosealed packets of cocaine
  • €380 in cash
  • 26 bank cards belonging to various holders, whose origin is under investigation for possible links to criminal activity.

The vehicle was equipped with a concealment mechanism activated by a wired switch, granting access to a secret compartment located beneath the co‑driver’s seat. The discovery of this hidden space was made possible thanks to the dogs of the Canine Guides Group, whose work proved decisive for the success of the raid.

All seized items and the vehicle have been handed over to the judicial authorities at the Morro Jable Civil Guard headquarters, where further investigations are ongoing.

This operation by the UPRI forms part of the city‑security crackdown plan of the CGPC on the island of Fuerteventura, driven by the Ministry of Presidency, Public Administrations, Justice and Security under the direction of Nieves Lady Barreto.
