Canary Islands police arrest man in Morro Jable with 90 crack doses and 34 cocaine wraps

The canine guide unit helped locate a hidden compartment in the vehicle. Officers seized drugs, cash and bank cards.

Agents from the Prevention, Reaction and Intervention Unit (UPRI) of the General Corps of the Canary Police arrested a man on Thursday night in Morro Jable, Fuerteventura, on suspicion of committing a public‑health offence.

During the operation, officers seized 90 doses of crack and 34 heat‑sealed packages of cocaine hidden inside a vehicle. They also confiscated €380 in cash and 26 bank cards belonging to various individuals; the origin of the cards is under investigation for possible links to criminal activity.

The vehicle was equipped with a concealed‑compartment mechanism activated by a wired switch, granting access to a secret space beneath the co‑driver’s seat. The discovery of this compartment was made possible by the Canary Police Canine Guide Unit, whose dogs were instrumental in the success of the raid.

The seized vehicle and its contents have been placed under judicial custody at the Morro Jable Civil Guard headquarters while further investigations continue.

This operation by the UPRI is part of the Citizen Security Shock Plan of the Canary Police on the island of Fuerteventura, driven by the Ministry of Presidency, Public Administrations, Justice and Security under the direction of Nieves Lady Barreto.
