Canary Islands ports near six million passengers in 2025, led by Fuerteventura

The ports managed by Puertos Canarios closed 2025 with a total of 5,781,622 passenger movements (embarkations and disembarkations), averaging 15,840 users per day. These figures reinforce the role of the autonomous ports as key infrastructure for inter‑island connectivity and the economic development of coastal municipalities.

Of the total recorded movements, 5,476,547 were on regular lines, representing 94.7 % of traffic and a 3.2 % increase over 2024. Non‑regular services accounted for 305,075 movements.

In this context, Fuerteventura stands out as one of the territories with the highest port activity:

  • Port of Corralejo recorded 1,247,953 passenger movements, placing it among the archipelago’s busiest ports.
  • Port of Morro Jable reached 743,956 movements.

The six ports with the greatest traffic—Agaete, Corralejo, Playa Blanca, Morro Jable, Caleta de Sebo, and Órzola—concentrated 96.8 % of the annual total, underscoring the importance of these connections for inter‑island mobility. Agaete, Corralejo, and Playa Blanca alone accounted for 63.8 % of all passenger movements.

Start of 2026 with Slight Decline

In the first two months of 2026, the autonomous ports logged 743,067 passenger movements, a 5 % drop compared with the same period in the previous year. Of these, 705,697 were on regular lines.

During this early‑year phase, the Corralejo–Playa Blanca connection remains one of the most significant, tallying 356,296 movements between the two ports in January and February.

Meanwhile, the Port of Agaete began 2026 with a 5.2 % growth, reaching 169,798 movements in the same period.

Puertos Canarios will continue to update these data monthly, while maintaining its commitment to improving user experience, strengthening safety, and advancing the sustainability of the archipelago’s port facilities.
