Canary Islands Rugby 7 Championship: A Prelude to the Rosario Festivities
Rugby is dressing up for a gala in Fuerteventura. On Saturday, September 20, the Risco Prieto Municipal Field will host the 28th Canary Islands Rugby 7s Championship, a historic event that will bring together some of the archipelago’s best teams in a vibrant, high‑energy format.
The Mahoh Rugby Club, current 7s tournament champion and Canary Islands XV Rugby League champion, will act as host for this edition, defending its title against top‑level rivals.
The day will kick off at 11:00 a.m. and run until 4:00 p.m., with thrilling matches every twenty minutes in both men’s and women’s categories.
Beyond the competition, organizers have prepared a family zone featuring a children’s area, a player recovery zone, hydration and picnic stations, and live entertainment by a DJ and commentators, ensuring no one misses a moment of the action.
The celebration will culminate with a third‑time party at the Abahe nightclub in Puerto del Rosario, where players and fans will enjoy food, drinks, and music together.
Rugby, an Inclusive Sport Open to Learning
Mahoh is also kicking off a new season, and this tournament is the perfect opportunity to take the first step and join rugby. The doors are open for anyone who wants to try:
- Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00 p.m. – Rugby school sessions.
- Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 p.m. – Men’s and women’s teams training.
