Canary Ports initiates demolition of Morro Jable port service station
The facility slated for demolition has been out of use since the new station in the fishing dock became operational.
Canary Ports (Puertos Canarios) has opened the tender process, using a simplified open‑procedure, to carry out the demolition of the disused service station at the Morro Jable port, located in the municipality of Pájara.
The procedure was initiated because the installation operated from 1999 to 2022, but was taken out of service after the new station in the fishing dock was commissioned.
Since then, the site occupies roughly 1,525 m² of built‑up area and external platform, has no functional use, and contains obsolete installations, according to a press release from Canary Ports.
Key details of the demolition project:
- Base tender budget: €195,626.12 (excluding IGIC)
- Estimated execution time: 2 months
- Objectives: free up space for future port uses, improve site organization, and enhance safety conditions.
Canary Ports explains that this intervention is part of its strategy to “improve” its infrastructure and move toward a more efficient management of port spaces serving maritime and fishing activities.
