Candelaria Umpiérrez Bids Farewell to Tuineje Council, Wrapped in Party Support

Candelaria Umpiérrez chaired her final council meeting on Wednesday as the outgoing mayor of Tuineje. She did so flanked by members of her political formation, the Asamblea Majorera–Coalición Canaria (AM‑CC), which publicly accompanied her in closing a chapter “in which she will continue to be an essential part of this party and the family that makes up AM‑CC across the island.”

According to the party, the support and affection shown at that moment reflected the gratitude of her colleagues “for your generosity, loyalty, honesty and effort,” after a term marked by difficulties.

Umpiérrez explained that her resignation was a personal decision, a point she reiterated at the start of her speech while still serving as mayor, as reported by a local media outlet. Her address was dominated by thanks, with special mention of the men and women who work for the Tuineje Town Hall—an institution she described as currently facing a complex situation.

She expressed appreciation for the staff’s work and, despite the challenging moments of the current legislature, emphasized a continued sense of responsibility.
