Capital city issues tender for new municipal vehicle depot and tow service

The new concession will allow surpassing the current precarious provision and speed up the removal of abandoned vehicles.

The Puerto del Rosario City Council will initiate a new tender to create a municipal vehicle depot and to manage the tow service comprehensively. This measure is key to improving the removal of abandoned vehicles and strengthening safety and order in the municipality’s public spaces.

The initiative will overcome the present precarious service arrangement, which has limited operational capacity to address the high number of abandoned‑vehicle cases on public roads and private lots.

Mayor’s remarks

“This tender represents a structural solution to a problem we have been carrying for years. We are providing the municipality with a stable, modern service adapted to the regulations, which will improve the urban image, road safety and coexistence in our neighborhoods.” – David de Vera, Mayor of Puerto del Rosario

Proposed model

The new model foresees the City Council allocating municipal land in an area that is urbanistically compatible for the depot, ensuring proper storage, decontamination and final disposal of vehicles. The tender will include a long‑term concession, enabling efficient and continuous management of both the tow service and the depot.

Traffic councilor’s remarks

“Currently we have more than a hundred properly processed abandoned‑vehicle cases, but with limited removal capacity. With this new tender we will be able to streamline procedures, free up public spaces and give a faster and more effective response to neighborhood demands.” – Jenifer Pérez, Councilor for Traffic

“This is a very necessary action to improve safety, traffic and the condition of our streets, and it will also allow greater coordination among municipal services.”

Budget and timeline

The creation of the municipal depot and the new tow service are included in the 2026 municipal budget, which prioritizes the consolidation of essential services and the improvement of residents’ quality of life through durable, well‑planned solutions.

The City Council will continue to provide updates on the progress and deadlines of the tender, which is expected to represent a qualitative leap in the management of abandoned vehicles and urban mobility.
